A few days ago, I had the opportunity to sit down with Joe Dimino for a podcast conversation.
Joe asked me what I was most proud of as I look back on my life and career. After thinking about it for a moment, I realized it wasn’t any particular accomplishment. It was learning to be intentional about where I wanted to go while remaining open to opportunities I never could have planned.
Looking back, I’ve come to appreciate the tension between intention and opportunism. Some of the most meaningful moments in my career came from recognizing an unexpected opportunity and being willing to pivot—sometimes dramatically—to pursue it.
